Who we work with
Some recent case histories showing how TheAirBag.net can work with your brand to provide a unique and exhilarating activation.
Eddie the Eagle @ Cineworld
To celebrate the launch of the brilliant “Eddie the Eagle” movie, Vue Cinemas were looking to deliver something seriously fun! The Brief Vue Cinemas were looking for a sky-high PR stunt in central London to create a big splash for the release of the Eddie the Eagle film. The Solution We built a 7m high free fall ski jump on the Southbank, against the backdrop of Tower Bridge. Due to logistics and timescales dictated by the local authorities, this had to be erected early on the morning of the activation and removed and cleared in under two hours after the event ended. We provided custom branding for the tower, a selection of 1980’s ski wear, goggles, foam skis and even a snow machine, to create a fun and immersive experience. The Delivery Celebrity guests and passers by were invited to take the leap of faith and hurl themselves from the top of the jump whilst pulling their best Eddie the Eagle ski trick. A small Ski Village was erected around the activation to encourage engagement from those not jumping and to distribute marketing material. Invariably most competitors ended up in a hilarious heap of skis, goggles and snow. The Results With good weather on our side, the activation was a fantastic success with a contant stream of Eddie the Eagle wannabes. The photos from the event proved that it really was a high impact event right in the centre of the capital. “An enormous thank you for pulling off an amazing event at such short notice. It’s hugely appreciated” Vue Cinema
Samsung @ Tough Mudder
Samsung are an official partner of the huge global success that is Tough Mudder, and specifically sponsor “Kong”, the hang tough experience with a giant airbag. Samsung wanted to showcase their new technologies such as their 360 degree camera, whilst offering visitors the chance to experience a flavour of “Kong”. The Brief To engage with visitors on the Samsung stand, both those participating in Tough Mudder, and those there to support their friends and family. To offer a flavour of the Tough Mudder experience and provide a souvenir of the experience. The Solution Samsung had created a viewing gallery on top of the stand, so we added an option to exit via gymnasium style rings at one end. By mounting a 360 degree camera above the drop, could pull-up close and pose for a photo like no other. After the photo, they simply raised their legs and dropped into the custom branded AirBag below. The Delivery The height of the rings proved tricky to settle on, as they had to be high enough for tall people to hang, but low enough for shorter participants to reach. After a couple of adjustments, we settled on a 4 ring solution that worked well. With a drop of just 3m, this was a fairly low risk activity, although some still struggled to let go of the rings! The AirBag was custom branded to add the Samsung logo to the photograph and all staff were given branded clothing. Results Samsung were delighted with the execution of their plan, with hundreds of participants enjoying the activation, as well as sharing their contact details in order to receive their free photograph by email.
Bridgestone @ the Golf Masters
Bridgestone Tyres are a global Olympic Partner and were looking for a partner to showcase their support of the amazing bronze medal wining diver, Chris Myers. The Brief As part of Bridgestone’s global IOC Olympic Partnership and “Chase Your Dream, No Matter What” campaign, Bridgestone UK used local golf sponsorships such as the Bridgestone Challenge and British Masters, supported by Sky Sports, to communicate the Olympic campaign and reinforce the product truth that Bridgestone tyres keep you safe and on track in any conditions. The campaign celebrates the Olympic spirit of perseverance inspiring everyone to overcome adversity to realise their dreams. The Solution In the Bridgestone Olympic Games Pavilion (in the activation zone at golf events), Bridgestone offered a variety of experiential activities. One of these was Take the Plunge with Chris Mears” which encouraged consumers to overcome the anxiety and fear of the unknown. In collaboration with TheAirBag, consumers were to take the plunge from a 5m tower as usual but be unaware of the airbag system that was there to catch them below. The Delivery This execution presented a few challenges for the team at TheAirBag, as we needed to balance safety with the delivery of a experience that required participants to jump without knowing what they would land in. In order to achieve this safely, we strapped our jump master into the tower with a harness, and Bridgestone customers were dropped backwards into a dark cavernous hole filled with mist. In order to ‘hide’ TheAirBag, a large screen was placed around it on ground level and a matt black topsheet helped to make it invisible in the dark. Finally, the smoke machine was controlled by the jump master, creating a truly terrifying experience, being dropped into the unknown! The Results By working closely with Bridgetone’s agency, and not being afraid to offer guidance on execution, the final experience at this activation was simply stunning. “We’ve come across many suppliers who would provide us with a solution that could work, however, The Airbag gave us not only a couple of solutions, but really hit the nail on the head by linking this activity to the Olympic campaign and celebrating the spirit of perseverance Moreover, they have been very professional and ‘always on’ during events despite long hours. Their enthusiasm, willingness to help and ability to change have been a breath of fresh air and I’m really looking forward to work with them again on future projects” Nives Zver We Are Fearless
Ford @ Goodwood Festival of Speed
Like most major car manufacturers, Ford GB attends the Goodwood Festival of Speed to showcase the latest vehicles, engage with members of the public and promote their brand. The event is one of the most important in the global motoring calendar each year, attended by 150,000 car enthusiasts. For many years, Ford has been one of the most interactive and exciting stands at the event, as they pride themselves on finding new ways to engage with the public. In order to keep things fresh for those visiting the event, they have always had a new theme and attraction at the stand each year. The Brief TheAirBag.net was approached by Ford as a speculative enquiry to see if there was a way of utilizing our LandSafe airbags on the stand, to reinforce the 2016 brand message of “Let go of what you know!” Ford wanted to encourage visitors to open their minds to new ideas, and let go of any pre-conceptions about the brand. The Solution We met with the Ford marketing team and discussed using the airbag as a new activation for the stand. They were excited by the concept so we went to the next stage of a test day with the marketing team and senior executives from Ford GB. The test day enabled all decision-makers to try jumping from different heights and to consider the balance of height vs. throughput for best results at the event. The activation was named “The Leap” to tie in with the “Let go of what you know” marketing and an aerial camera was introduced to capture each participant’s experience. The Delivery The team settled on one jump platform at 4.5m, which offers a great balance between an exhilarating experience and reducing hesitation, which can cause queues to build. In addition, the AirBag was custom branded to reflect the marketing messages of the activation and all staff were given branded clothing. Results The activation was a huge success with around 1,500 participants safely completing “The Leap” each day. Queues were kept to a minimum and everyone received a laminated photo on a lanyard. In the words of Ford’s Advertising & Experiential Manager: “What a team!! YOU ROCKED!!!! Thank you for delivering an outstanding display of what the Ford brand represents and providing a customer experience, which was second to none. Through, rain and shine and more rain and mud, you built, delivered, represented, talked, leapt, drove and packed away as part of the best team in the business. Well done to everyone of you, I hope you’re recovering well from the experience and that you feel proud of your achievement – you should! On behalf of Ford Motor Company and myself – a huge thank you!” After the huge success of this event, which saw Ford deliver one of the most popular stands at Goodwood, we were booked again for the following to provide a similar experience.

Nick a big thanks to you and your team for such great work on our roadshow this summer. We had some freak weather, tricky sites and even more challenging customers but you took it all in your stride. The feedback was amazing, everybody was delighted. Your two height platform worked much better than our other contractor and as someone who tried out both, yours was the clear winner. I can’t wait to get the chance to work with you again.

Firstly, thank you so much for all your efforts towards our event, not only in reviewing the costs to get it on, but everything you and your team did over the event weekend. I enjoy working with you, and the airbag addition was ace.

The Free Drop was without a doubt the best new activity we have introduced to Cliffhanger since the event began. It had a constant queue of people from the moment the gates opened to the end of the weekend. I even had a go myself after the show on Saturday. A real thrill! Nick and Colin were a joy to work with. Can’t recommend them highly enough!

TheAirBag.net was by far the best value attraction for our series of summer cycling events. Before the events people were excited that they would get the opportunity to try some big jumps in complete safety. The team were enthusiastic, professional and easy to deal with throughout. Despite having some torrential downpours at one event, they stuck around and when the sun came out the event was back up and running within15 minutes. The events were run in a safe and controlled way and we had nothing but great feedback from everyone who tried the jump.

The AirBag was a real highlight at our event – it was great to have something which really appealed to young people and which was a lot of fun both for the folk who gave it a go and the ones who were watching! Nick and his team were also very easy to work with – efficient and professional. We hope to get the AirBag back to the Black Isle soon.

Firstly I wanted to reiterate a comment I made to one of your staff about how professional I thought the team were. I’ve seen other attractions where staff have rammed health and safety rules down people’s throats like they’re about to do something life threatening. Only to then pretty much ignore what’s actually happening. Your guys on the other hand were very attentive and only explained what was necessary. Archie would never have made the jump if it hadn’t of been for the support he received. He is now one very happy boy!
